Serves 10 people


For the Beef Keftedakia

1 ¼ pound ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
¼ cup Ouzo
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, diced
1 egg
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
1 clove garlic, minced
½ teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper

For the Tzatziki

2 cups yogurt
2 cucumbers, peeled, seeded and diced small
2 tablespoons olive oil
The juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons dill, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
salt and pepper

For the Garnish

Fresh dill
Fresh mint

Special Equipment

Skewers soaked in water


For the Beef Keftedakia

Soak the breadcrumbs in the Ouzo for 20 minutes.  Combine all ingredients and chill for 20 minutes while you prepare the tzatziki sauce.

When chilled, form into oval balls which are called keftedakias. Place on skewers.  Chill again for 20 minutes.  Grill until cooked through.

For the Tzatziki

Combine all ingredients to create a wonderful tzatziki sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste.

To Serve

Garnish the tzatziki with mint leaves and fresh dill. Serve the tzatziki a long side the keftedakia’s.
